Frequently Asked Questions

What does “Verbum Tuum” mean?
Verbum Tuum comes from the Blessed Virgin Mary’s yes to God – “fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum” which is Latin for “Let it be done according to Your Word”. We each have a unique purpose from God and this program will help you hear God’s desires for your life.

Who will be leading the program?
Fr. Richard McNeillie, Vocation Director, and Joelma Regis, Associate Director of the Office of Vocations.

What will we cover at the sessions?
Verbum Tuum is a formation program that will teach you how to pray better and grow closer to God. The goal is to help you become free to say yes to God by healing old wounds or letting go of unhealthy attachments.

Each meeting will have dinner, a talk, time for adoration and reflection, and confession will be available.

Are all the sessions at the same place?
Three of the four sessions are at All Saints Catholic Church in the Heights. The overnight retreat will be at the Christian Renewal Center in Dickinson (between Houston and Galveston).

How long are meetings?
Thursday sessions are three hours from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. The one day retreat will be 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. The overnight retreat information is below.

When does the overnight retreat start and end?
The overnight retreat begins Friday evening, September 27at 6 P.M. with dinner, but we understand Houston traffic and can be flexible if needed. The retreat will end Saturday evening before dinner.

Are meals provided?
Yes. All meals during the sessions and retreats are provided. Please let us know if you have any allergies we can accommodate.

What will we do outside of the meetings?
You will be meeting with your spiritual director once a month – you two will find a time that matches your schedules. There will be “spiritual homework” such as scriptures and reflections building from the previous session to pray with between sessions.

I don’t have a spiritual director, what should I do?
Do not worry. We will assign you a spiritual director if you do not already have one.

What does a spiritual director do?
A spiritual director is trained to help you listen and respond to God. Rather than a one-time meeting, it is a journey where the director, mature in their faith, guides you to a stronger faith and deeper relationship with God.

Are scholarships available?
Yes. Please email vocations@archgh.org if you have financial need. Monthly payment plans are also available during registration.

When does registration close?
