Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for juniors and seniors (or teens 16 to 17 years old), both male or female who would appreciate time in silence and learning more about praying with Scripture. Teens who are sophomores (15 years old), would be fine with being silent and are interested in attending can have their parents email Claire (cmcmullin@archgh.org) about prior approval.

It would not be suitable for teens looking to fulfill a Confirmation retreat requirement.

What can we expect from the retreat?

This is a silent retreat that will serve to help older high school students take a break from the busyness of classes and tests. Other than designated times, most of the day you will be silent while praying with some exercises. The point is to help you grow as a prayerful person who listens to the Lord.

Can parents attend?

Yes! Parents are welcome to join for a self-guided reflection day for $25 (cost of lunch). Must be a parent of a child attending the retreat.

Parents who attend must be CMG Certified. If you have not completed CMG please click the link here, CMG Connect - Catholic Mutual Group (Please note that CMG runs a background check that takes several days. The course must be completed and certificate on file before the day of the retreat. If you are having trouble emailing the certificate, please contact Claire McMullin at cmcmullin@archgh.org ) 

Can younger children (15 years old or younger) join parents?

If a parent is chaperoning and needs to bring younger children with them, yes. The child must stay with the parent the entire time and is not considered a participant.

Do you need chaperones?

Yes. Those available to chaperone will be contacted before the event.  Parents who chaperone will be given a discounted price.

How much does the retreat cost?

$25 for youth attendee and $25 for parents and $10 for youth ministers. This covers cost of food and materials. Parents who sign up and chaperone the event will be given a discounted price.

Do Youth Ministers Have to work while on retreat?

Youth Ministers may use the time at Psalm 23 as a retreat and day of prayer.

Does this retreat fulfil confirmation retreat requirements?

This retreat is specifically designed to help high school students deepen their understanding of prayer and grow in their personal prayer life.It is not intended to fulfill Confirmation retreat requirements or to replace retreats that are part of a parish Confirmation or faith formation curriculum.  If you are looking for a retreat to fulfill a Confirmation requirement, please contact your parish Youth Minister for information about the appropriate retreat opportunities.
