Mental Health Ministry in our Parishes

Bishop Italo Dell’Oro invites you to a morning of discovery and pastoral dialogue.

Mental health challenges affect all of us-personally or through the lives of our loved ones. Let’s join together as a community for a vital, compassionate conversation that equips us to be places of healing and hope where depression, anxiety, suicide, addiction, trauma, grief, or other mental health struggles prevail. This conversation will deepen our understanding of mental health and the vital role of faith and community, while opening a meaningful dialogue around appropriate pastoral care.

Featuring Deacon Ed Shoener, Founder of Catholic Mental Health Ministers.

He will enhance our understanding of:

  • Mental Health Literacy: Understand the mental health continuum and recognize common challenges (like depression and anxiety) in clear, compassionate language.
  • Suicide Awareness and Available Support: Recognize warning signs and be equipped with where to find local and national professional and crisis resources.
  • The Role of Faith and Community in Mental Health: Embrace a Catholic perspective that affirms the dignity of every person and emphasizes accompaniment over judgment.
