The Office of Worship, in collaboration with the Office of the Permanent Diaconate and Office of the Clergy, offers this essential formation focused on the new translation of the Liturgy of the Hours with liturgical expert Christopher Carstens.

Many who pray or lead the Divine Office know that a revised English edition is approaching. The 2nd edition of the Liturgy of the Hours includes important enhancements that will benefit clergy in their recitation of the Office, as well as provide an opportunity for priests, deacons, musicians, and parish staff who wish to foster daily prayer of the Hours and introduce common, public celebrations in parish life. This workshop will explore what is new in the revised edition while equipping participants with practical ways to implement the Liturgy of the Hours in their communities.

Christopher Carstens directs the Office for Sacred Worship in the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin; coordinates the Institute for Liturgical Formation at Christendom College; and directs Adoremus: Society for the Renewal of the Sacred Liturgy. He serves as a consultant to the USCCB’s Committee on Divine Worship and is a visiting faculty member at the Liturgical Institute at the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Illinois. Known as one of the voices on The Liturgy Guys podcast, he is the author of A Devotional Journey into the Mass and A Devotional Journey into the Easter Mystery (Sophia Institute Press), as well as Principles of Sacred Liturgy: Forming a Sacramental Vision (Hillenbrand Books). He and his family live in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin.
