Black History Month Morning of Reflection: “Nourished by the Word, Sent to the World”
Join us at St. Laurence Catholic Church for an inspiring morning of fellowship, formation, live gospel music, and celebration centered on the theme “Nourished by the Word, Sent to the World.”

Discover American Catholic History & Catholic Social Teaching
Keynote speaker and Church historian Dr. Cecilia Moore will guide us through the heroic lives of pioneering clergy and religious who ministered in, with, and for African American Catholic communities. Their courageous witness exemplifies Catholic Social Teaching in action—demonstrating human dignity, solidarity, and the preferential option for the poor during times of profound social challenge. Through their stories and witness to the universal Communion of Saints, we will extract timeless lessons for living out the Gospel and promoting justice in our communities today.

Foster the Next Generation of Vocations
In addition to celebrating this rich spiritual heritage, the morning offers practical insight for anyone passionate about fostering religious vocations. Deacon Phillip Jackson, Director of the Permanent Diaconate, will share actionable strategies for parents, catechists, and parish leaders. Learn how to cultivate a culture of discernment, address cultural barriers, and mentor young Black Catholics discerning a call to the priesthood or religious life.

Whether you are a student of history, a parish leader, a catechist, or simply seeking to deepen your faith, you will leave renewed, inspired, and commissioned to bring these lessons home to your parish and family.
